March Madness

This month has been one of ridiculousness.  I have been interviewing for new positions that will allow me to pay my loans and live on my own.  I am ready to be out there... like I have been since the moment to move home.  It's not even that I don't enjoy being here. I am just a naturally independent person (or so I like to think) and being at home doesn't allow me to do that.  Sooo... after much anticipation and time taken off from my two jobs I have FINALLY found a position that I know I will love.  I am so eager to get started that I think the next two weeks will drag out like a mother trucker... But that light at the end of the tunnel is EXACTLY what I'm looking forward to :)  While I will miss the current jobs that I have, I think this is for the better.  It brings my two passions together.  Working with kids and fitness.  The latter I have more recently gotten into and while I tend to stop and then come back to it, I think this will motivate me to stay in shape and keep working out.  Which I have been doing a whole lot of recently.  No doubt.. this job will continue to turn out hysterical quotes from the kids I work with, which I obviously will look forward to.  So, on that note, onto the quotes!

Student: THERE IS A GOAT OUTSIDE STARING AT ME!
Me: Are you sure it is not a rock?
Student: NO!! IT'S A GOAT!!
*Teacher goes to check*
Teacher: It's a rock.....
* This was hysterical.  The students was ABSOLUTELY certain that there was a goat just sitting outside and staring at her.  The entire class was laughing for a good 5 minutes.

Teacher: What is that...?
Student: My sketchbook for art!
Teacher: It's not very good...Can I show the class?
Student: NO! It's MY dead plant and don't you make fun of it!!
* This quote was also priceless.  If I recall correctly, it was the day after February break and the student had some sketches due for his art class which he was drawing in his math class, before art.  After the ordeal, I was shown the pictures... and they weren't very good.... but the quote was still funny. haha

Anddd finally.....
Me: So what do you think people did in the olden days?
Student: They kissed and got married!
* This was cute.  It was one of my kindergarteners and this was the first thing out of her mouth when I asked.  I guess kids have their perceptions about the past too. haha

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh Hi!

It's been a while.  I know.  Life has been super busy, but not all that interesting to be completely honest.  I do, however, have a couple quotes that I would like to share with you.  One is funny and the other one made me smile, which meant a lot because I had a rough night last night and almost had a full on panic attack this morning. So... without further Adieu...

The funny one:
- So the kids (sophomores) are in geometry class and they're learning about how to name Polygons.  The teacher names the names of Polygons with three through twelve sides.... (Triangle, Quadrilateral, Pentagon, Hexagon, Heptagon, Octagon, Nonagon, Decagon, Undecagon, Dodecagon). He then tells the kids that anything that comes after that is the number plus gon. (i.e. thirteen-gon, fourteen-gon, etc.)  Welll this started the kids all in an uproar (of course), saying things like "Well why can't they all be that way!" or "What is the point of even having the other names."  One student promptly spoke up and said "Cuz then we alllllll goneeeee!!!"  The entire class was laughing for a good five minutes. :)

The one that made me smile:
- Ok.  So today was Valentine's day.  Obviously a day you want to spend with the people you love.. yadda yadda yadda.  Well my person in 230 miles away.  So the day started with me bummin' big time.  BUT I wasn't gonna let that get me down.  Then I remembered the awful night I had the night before.... which brought me into full on panic mode.  Top that with a good old dose of "I'm 23... almost 24.... and I still live with my parents and I don't have a job that I can support myself with." andddd here comes the nervousness and shaking and the "Oh my gosh, I have failed in life."  Sweet.  Anywho.... So we're sitting in that same Geometry class and we have some down time.  So I'm talking to the kids about what they're gonna be wearing for Western Day, Cartoon Day, and Class Color Day.  After making some cartoon character suggestions and costume ideas (ex. Sponge Bob's Gary and saying MEOW).  One of the kids promptly turns to me and goes, "You would be such an AWESOME big sister!" I was just kinda taken aback and thought out loud, "Seriously?"
- The truth is, I've been a big sister for 22 years.... I've just never considered myself an "awesome" one because my brother and I are so different that we don't really get along.... or even speak that much unless it is a family holiday or something.  So... on Valentine's Day.... when I was feeling particularly lonely... that made my day quite a bit brighter.

So... Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope that you were all able to muddle through it and that things turned out better for you than you could have ever imagined.  Good night <3
